Borders effectively sealed, cattle smuggling zero: BSF on Raising Day 2020

Observing its 56th Raising Day, the BSF said its troops have vowed to safeguard the territorial integrity of India with its motto of “Jeewan Paryant Kartavya”.

The Border Security Force (BSF), the largest border guarding force in the world, has effectively sealed the borders and cattle smuggling has become zero while it has apprehended several miscreants and seized huge arms and contraband items in the last one year, the BSF said Tuesday.

“The BSF has very effectively sealed the borders and cattle smuggling has almost become zero. All the gaps have been effectively sealed. The Frontier has also contributed immensely in reducing drug smuggling in the Barak Valley,” Frontier IG Sunil Kumar said during the observation of the BSF 56th Raising Day in Manipur.

Observing its Raising Day, the BSF said in a release that its troops vowed to safeguard the territorial integrity of India with its motto of “Jeewan Paryant Kartavya”. It also said that in the last two months, its personnel have recovered 30 sophisticated weapons consisting of 29 AK-Series Rifles and one US Carbine along with 28 magazines and a huge cache of arms and ammunitions.

In the last one year, the BSF troops have apprehended 31 Indian miscreants and four Bangladeshi miscreants and have seized 52,479 Yaba tablets worth Rs 2,62,39,500. The BSF personnel also seized 1.5 grams of heroin, 87.49 grams of brown sugar, 172 kilograms of cannabis, 1, 859 of foreign liquor bottles and many other contrabands items.

While saying that BSF is the largest border guarding force in the world, it stated that the BSF mans 3,323 kilometres of border with Pakistan in Western Theatre and 4,096 kilometres of border with Bangladesh in Eastern Theatre.

Mizoram and Cachar Frontier are a unique Frontier of the force which guards the borders of South Assam in Barak valley and whole of Mizoram with Bangladesh covering an area of 469 kilometres in length, it said apart from it the Frontier has also deployed its units in Manipur and Nagaland on counter-insurgency roles.

The units of the Frontier are also guarding important vital Institutions like Capital Complex and High Court premises of Manipur, it added.
