The All Manipur Muslim Organisation Coordinating Committee (AMMOCOC) has urged the Manipur government to book the culprits of the Kwakta bomb blast and punish them according to law.

Condemning the bomb blast at Kwakta, AMMOCOC general secretary Wahidur Rahman said the committee had called for a peace rally, human chain and slogan for bringing peace in the state and to implement NRC on June 21, the day the bomb blast took place at Kwakta.

The peace rally was conducted in all Meitei-Pangal inhabitant areas of Manipur, including Kwakta. However, a sophisticated IED bomb exploded at the area where the maximum number Meitei-Pangal community is living, he said.

Speaking to the media on Friday at AMMOCOC office located at Hatta, Wahidur called it unfortunate that the blast occurred on the day when the Meitei-Pangal community were appealing for peace in the state.

It is questionable why the blast happened at a place where the Pangals are in majority, what is the hidden agenda and who did it, he said.

AMMOCOC believes the government will initiate a suitable action and urges them to book culprits, he said.

Talking about the June 24 all-political party meeting called by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, he appealed for the meeting to bring steps for an amicable solution.

AMMOCOC will look forward to the resolutions, hoping that it does not destroy Manipur’s integrity, he said, warning that the committee will not be a silent spectator if the resolutions of the meeting tend to destroy Manipur’s integrity.

He also appealed to all the Meitei-Pangal community to perform ritual Eid but not to celebrate. He further appealed to all Moulvis of Meitei-Pangal to pray for peace and normalcy in the state.
