Book culprits of murder case immediately: JAC

Demanding arrest of murder culprits, JAC threatened to launch agitation if the government failed to act.

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the murder of Abonmai Tingshangliangbou alias Ningthou on Thursday demanded the authorities to immediately book the culprits involved “before intensified agitations are launched.”

Abonmai Tingshangliangbou alias Ningthou, 40, son of Abonmai Nungthon of Awang Potshangbam Khunou Tera Khong, Imphal East was found dead inside a hut located at Awang Potshangbam near Water Amusement park, Imphal East in the early morning of Thursday, sources said.  

JAC member Abonmai Hopson told the media at Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul, Imphal on Thursday that around 4.30 pm Wednesday, Ningthou was called out from his residence by some of his friends, after which he did not return home.

The next morning, some people reported that Ningthou was found dead in a suspicious manner near the Water Amusement Park, Awang Potshangbam, Imphal East.

The government must find the culprits involved in the incident and they must be immediately booked. Till then, the JAC will not accept the body which has been deposited at JNIMS morgue, he said.

He also urged the government to provide necessary assistance for the wife of the deceased.

Responding to the media, Hopson said the family members found bruises marks on the body. He said two suspects have been picked up for questioning by Heingang police.
