A Chinese made hand grenade was found planted near the construction site of the new building of Kakching Post Office at Kakching Chumnam Phousupat Leikai under the Kakching Police Station on Tuesday.
According to police, the bomb was found by non-Manipuri construction workers at around 11 am. It is suspected that the bomb was targeted at the non-Manipuri construction workers, police stated.
It stated that after the police were informed, a team led by Kakching Police Station OC Ak Premjit barricaded the perimeter and investigations were launched. Later, a bomb disposal squad from Imphal disposed of the bomb at Kakching Moramba Chingol at 5.20 pm, it informed.
It may be recalled that on the evening of June 23, some miscreants shot two non-Manipuri labourers who were staying at a rented house at Kakching Wairi Leishangthem Pareng. One was killed while the other was hospitalised.
