Bomb explodes at fish godown in Imphal East

A bomb exploded at a fish godown in Khongman Zone-I, Imphal East at 11 pm Monday.

A bomb exploded at a fish godown in Khongman Zone-I, Imphal East at 11 pm Monday. The godown gate was damaged but no human casualties were reported .

The fish godown belongs to one Aribam Sashikumar alias Bung, son of (Late) A Chiteshor Sharma of Khongman Zone-I, Imphal East.

Decrying the blast in residential areas, locals, including Meira Paibis, staged a sit-in-protest near the godown on Tuesday.

It may be recalled that an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was also planted at the same fish godown in November last year, but it was diffused by the Manipur police team safely.

It is reported that the blast is linked with extortion to the fish godown owner.

No individuals or organisations have claimed responsibility for the bomb blast till the time of filing of this report.
