Bomb blast at RIMS director’s residence

Police said that the bomb exploded at a pond located at the residence of director RIMS.

A bomb suspected to be an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded at the residence of director Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) located at Uripok Ahanthem Leikai, Imphal West at around 8.45 pm on Monday. No casualty has been reported during the blast.

Police said the bomb exploded at a pond located at the residence of director RIMS, Ahanthem Shanta, 59, son of late A Brajamani.

Police raised suspicion that the bomb might have been planted by miscreants with intention to cause death of human life and damage of property.

A suo-motu case has been registered at Imphal Police station in connection with the incident. No individual or group has claimed responsibility for the blast, till the filing of this report.
