In the complaint letter submitted by election agent of INC candidate, Hidangmayum Suresh Sharma mentioned that one Wangkheirakpam Mani Devi, 93, a resident of Chingmeirong Maning Leikai, Imphal East casted her vote under special provision of aged senior citizen on Sunday.

“As reported, she was asked to cast her vote only in favour of the candidate listed as Sl. No. 2 by the booth level officer (BLO), Chingmeirong Maning Leikai, Imphal East. The said BLO also told her that she would be rewarded with ‘Nga Chanaba’ money for doing so. Pertinently, the SL. No.2 candidate is Thounaojam Basanta Singh, BJP-Candidate”, the complaint stated.

It further mentioned that “we assume that such acts of enticing voters must have happened at many areas and could already have decided the fate of the election itself.”

It appealed to the authority concerned to nullify all the votes casted on Sunday (April 7) and ensure that all the voting henceforth is conducted with the respective polling agents.
