The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday conducted a virtual executive meeting resolving to secure a sweeping victory in the upcoming Assembly election to be conducted in five states of the country in 2022 - Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Punjab and Manipur in 2022. It said that the party will keep reservation of about 33 per cent of tickets to deserving and intending women candidates.
Speaking to the media, state president BJP A Sharda Devi said that during the meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed that with the initiatives undertaken by the party under its ‘Seva hi Sangathan’, the people will vote for BJP as they are satisfied with the organisational work carried out during the pandemic.
She said the BJP has been working to bring progress and welfare for the people of the country. Under the party’s self-reliance, the country has been able to fight the pandemic despite the apprehension that there may be shortages of face masks, PPE suits and essential items including food. However, BJP has been taking various initiatives and the country is also witnessing the efforts made by the state and Central government, she added.
The virtual executive meeting was attended by Chief Minister N Biren; state Works Minister Th Biswajit; state BJP president A Sharda Devi and general secretary organisation, BJP Abhay Kumar Giri.
She said the state unit was given information about the joining of two MLAs to BJP at the Centre and the Central BJP always takes its decisions after taking consent from the state units.
“Politics is a numbers game and a political party will get its strength by the maximum numbers of elected representatives. The BJP government will remain in Manipur and to strengthen it by bringing positive results of the ‘Congress Mukt Bharat’ movement, the BJP is accepting other politicians in the party,” she added.
She also said BJP will keep reservation of about 33 per cent of tickets to women intending candidates and it will give party tickets to deserving women intending candidates.
