BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra holds one-to-one meet with MLAs

Manipur BJP on Thursday conducted a high level meeting at its party headquarters at Nityaipat Chithek, Imphal.

Although state BJP leaders swore that Thursday’s meeting at party office was about preparations of the 100th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann ki Baat, BJP national spokesperson and Manipur incharge Sambit Patra had a one-to-one meeting with the party MLAs.

The meeting was divided in two party wherein discussions in connection with the upcoming ‘100th edition of Mann Ki Baat’ and another sitting with MLAs was held.

The meeting chaired by state BJP president A Sharda Devi, Chief Minister N Biren Singh, national spokesperson BJP Sambit Patra and party incharge Manipur and Nagaland Abhay Kumar Giri was present.

Most of the BJP MLAs were seen taking part in the meeting though some of them did not turn up for the meeting.

The meeting which started from around 9 am continued till around 12.30 pm.

Speaking to the media, state president A Sharda Devi said the meeting was conducted to hold discussions for organising the 100th edition of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ at a state level.

The meeting discussed the means to encourage mass participation from the public and targeted to make at least 100 BJP members participate at each booth level.

Responding to the media, she said there is no political issue among the BJP MLAs and officially no MLAs had lodged any complaint regarding any political issues among the party members.

She also said the meeting was carried out as a regular organisational meeting and for that reason, Sambit Patra also participated in it.

Chief minister N Biren Singh said that BJP is aiming to set a world record on the 100th edition of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ with maximum numbers of listeners, she mentioned. State BJP will also be organising the same event at Loktak, she announced.  National general secretary of the party, Bhupender Yadav has been invited to the event at Loktak, she added.

He appealed to the people to listen to the ‘100th Mann Ki Baat’ through radio or TV and to raise awareness on what the BJP government is providing for the welfare of the people.

Most of the MLAs except for Wangjing Tentha MLA P Brojen Singh, Keirao MLA L Rameshor and Speaker Satyabarta Singh did not attend.

Sources add, they informed the party office of their inability to attend the meeting due to certain reasons.

Party sources further said, Chief Minister N Biren Singh was not present in the room when Sambit Patra met the MLAs individually.

It was told that the MLAs could air any grievances they have against the present arrangement and only about ten MLAs came forward. Notably, MLAs Th Radheshyam and Karam Shyam who recently resigned from their respective posts besides Salam Rajen of Lamsang did not meet Sambit Patra individually.

Later, Sambit Patra before leaving Imphal in late afternoon is understood to have advised the Chief Minister N Biren Singh to lend a patient ear to the grievances of the MLAs and to be accommodative.
