Manipur Congress on Sunday alleged that the BJP has infiltrated the controversial RSS ideology in the educational sector by ways of deforming the NCERT syllabus and stated that it is unacceptable by all.
Addressing a press conference after the celebration of the 53rd foundation day of National Students' Union of India (NSUI) at Congress Bhawan in Imphal, MPCC spokesperson Bamkim Chandra spoke on the negative development in the education sector witnessed during the BJP regime.
He highlighted the omission of chapters on Mughal empires, democratic policy, democracy and diversity, popular struggle and movements and challenges of democracy from the NCERT syllabus of X, XI and XII standards by the Modi-led BJP government.
Omitting various chapters related with democracy in the country considered the largest democracy in the world is very controversial, he said, questioning, "Where is the meaning of education if a political science student cannot get an option to learn democracy?"
It will be like pursuing MBBS without knowing biology or an engineering student without knowing mathematics, he explained.
"Such an act is considered as a hidden attempt to bring an end to the education system of the country after suppressing democracy," said the spokesperson.
Considering the fact that BJP contribution was zero in the freedom movement of India, so the move to filter the history of India might be BJP's effort to cover their embarrassment, said Bamkim.
He maintained that one should know that history will remain as it is and it must be accepted and its underlying significance must be used for the good purpose of mankind.
Stating that the Congress party demands a political-free education zone, the spokesperson further alleged that the territorial and emotional integrity of India is at threat while the ruling government is busy in introducing dictatorship and distorting the history of India.
The foundation day celebration of NSUI also witnessed participation of MPCC leaders such as K Meghachandra, Th Lokeshowor, Kh Ranjit and O Surjakumar among others.
Hoisting the NSUI flag by the MPCC president and paying floral tribute to founder of NSUI Indira Gandhi marked the observance of the foundation day.
