BJP government will return with absolute majority in Manipur: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

The chief minister was speaking at a flag hoisting cum one day political meeting held at the residence of Works Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh who is also BJP candidate for Thongju assembly constituency.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said 100 per cent Bharatiya Janata Party government will return in Manipur in the coming 12th state Assembly election to be conducted on February 28 and March 5.

The chief minister was speaking at a flag hoisting cum one day political meeting held at the residence of Works Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh who is also BJP candidate for Thongju assembly constituency. He said BJP is targeting 40 seats, however with the support of JD-U and NPF, the party will win around 50 seats in the coming election.

Sarma said during the then Congress government in Manipur, there were frequent bandhs, blockades and strikes, however during 2017 Manipur election campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised that people of Manipur will not suffer bandh, blockade and strikes. The promised was fulfilled with the coming of the BJP government in Manipur in 2017 election, he added.

He said under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi the road condition of Imphal-Jiribam national highway has improved. With the improved two highways of Manipur, including Imphal-Jiribam road and Imphal-Dimapur road, the issue of frequent economic blockade on the national highways have solved, he added.

Apart from bringing improvement on national highways, the BJP government also implemented inner line permit in Manipur which was a long-term demand for the people of Manipur, said Sarma.

Works Minister Th Biswajit has been given much contribution for the welfare of Manipur and the BJP government, he said. He said in Assam, there were only six medical colleges. With the coming of BJP government in Assam the medical colleges have been increased to 26. Even in some years metro train will be introduced in Assam. The developments were brought under the leadership of Narendra Modi where similar development could be brought in Manipur if people support the Modi government, said Sarma.

He also assured that only absolute majority BJP government will be formed in the coming 2022 election in Manipur and request the people to give 90 per cent votes for Biswajit.

Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton; Education Minister Temjen Imna; state BJP president A Sharda Devi; former Union minister Th Chaoba and others attended the ceremony as dais member.
