Police said the deceased has been identified as one Haorongbam Cristina, 25, daughter of H Sovash of Phubala Makha Leikai. She was found hanging from a mango tree near her house at around 6.30 am by her family members.

A suicide note was found on the ground near the site. The suicide note mentioned about a love relationship that had gone sour, the police said.

Moirang Police Station has registered a case in connection with the incident. After a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory inspected the crime scene, a post mortem examination was conducted at RIMS Mortuary with a magistrate as witness. The body was handed over to the family members afterwards, the police added. 

This is the second case of a woman reportedly found hanging in Bishnupur in 2022. Earlier too, on June 21, a woman was reportedly found hanging inside the toilet of her residence at Ningthoukhong, Ward No XII under Bishnupur Police Station in Bishnupur district at around 6 pm. The deceased was identified as one Konthoujam Ongbi Thoi, 20, wife of K Bideshor from Ningthoukhong Ward No XII.
