Chiefs and chairmen of village authorities of Behiang area on Tuesday conveyed gratitude to Chief Minister N Biren Singh for bringing development projects in the Indo-Myanmar border.
A statement jointly issued by the chiefs and chairmen of village authorities of the Behring area stated that the chief minister's commitment to bring development projects in the Indo-Myanmar border (Behiang), which have been neglected, stagnant and backward for a long time is welcomed by the people of the area.
It also stated that the people welcome the upcoming inauguration of the Chivu-Chandrakirti Park and the planned construction of the Southern Manipur Cultural Heritage Centre, Mini stadium and other projects in the Behiang area.
"This border area is in dire needs of more such developmental projects while it has the potential to develop ecological and cultural tourism, besides future trading hub, that will economically benefit the local populace," it stated while urging the state government to initiate more projects in the border area to facilitate sustainable livelihood for the people.
