Bangladesh Manipuri Sahitya Sangsad (BAMSAS) on Sunday organised a reception programme for the delegates of Patriotic Writers Forum Manipur (PAWF), Manipur at Holly Inn, Sylhet AK Sheram in Bangladesh.
BAMSAS organised the reception programme for the PAWF delegates who were in Bangladesh to organise Ningol Chakkouba in Bangladesh.
In the programme, BAMSAS president AK Sheram said that the year’s Ningol Chakouba at Bangladesh organised by PAWF in collaboration with Manipuri Cultural Complex, Bangladesh and Manipuri Youths Forum, Bangladesh on Thursday was the “biggest Ningol Chakouba festival” in Bangladesh.
“There were no Ningol Chakouba celebration in Bangladesh, Assam or Tripura. The Manipuri people residing in Bangladesh began celebrating Ningol Chakouba after establishing the existing relationship with Manipur,” he added.
He extended appreciation to the titular king and MP Ningthou Sanajaoba Leisemba and CAF and PD minister L Susindro for coming and taking part in the Ningol Chakouba celebration.
The event was attended by BAMSAS vice president L Prasanta, PAWF president N Khamba Luwang, PAWF former president Yaiskul Khwairakpam, PAWF vice president Sobita Mongjam, PAWF secretary Rakesh Naorem.
On the occasion, PAWF Rakesh Noarem said that the forum had been keeping in touch with the Meitei communities in Bangladesh since 2017. He recalled that the forum had also organised various programmes to strengthen the relationship between Manipur and Bangladesh including Children’s' Fair, First Indo-Bangla Manipuri Cultural Festival, Lamyanba Hijam Irabot memorial programmes along with the release of the first ever Indo-Bangla Manipuri digital film entitled “Bangladesh ki SanaTampha”.
