The All Zeliangrong Students’ Union – Assam, Manipur and Nagaland have invited all the Zeliangrong people especially the former leaders of Zeliangrong community who served earlier in the NSF (Naga Students’ Federation) to attend the 4th Federal Assembly of Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) to be hosted by AMN on December 1 and 2 at Boro Henam Village, Dima Hasao District, Assam.
Through a release, the AZSU (AMN) appealed to all concerned not to call any bandhs or blockades during this period. Subsequently, after the NSF federal assembly, the first DIMKI (Assembly) session of AZSU for the tenure 2022-2025 will also be held on December 2 at the same venue. As such AZSU (AMN) invites all the federating units of AZSU, senior leaders and well-wishers to attend the assembly positively, it stated.
The release further said that there will be discussion on many key issues confronting the Zeliangrong Community in the Session. Meanwhile, the All Zeliangrong Students’ Union (AMN) in the second DIMKI session held at Bampungo, Laisong, Assam on October 29 last year in a meeting had resolved to “Ban on Poppy Cultivation and Exploitation on Forest and Natural Resources. The Union after much deliberation has resolved that it shall ban on Poppy cultivation and plantation under Zeliangrong Areas.”
However, from reliable sources, the union came to learn that the poppy plantation has been carried out and practised in some Zeliangrong areas. The AZSU would extend fullest cooperation in any possible way to the government of Manipur to eradicate the drug issue in the State. Therefore, AZSU would like to inform the general public that they will carry out the Poppy Drive any time soon in the Zeliangrong inhabitant areas in Manipur, it added while urging to extend support in any initiative taken up by AZSU.
