The All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) has deeply condoled the demise of former minister RK Thekho who passed away Saturday night.
According to ATSUM, the former minister was one of the tallest leaders of the tribal people in the state. He was instrumental in the formation of the only tribal political party, the Manipur Hills Union and served as its general secretary, they stated.
After retiring from active politics, he continued to serve the society in many capacities and was president of Adimjati Shiksha Ashram Advisory Board for many years. He was also chairman of Manipur Public Service Commission and also served his community as president of the United Naga Council.
His demise has left a great void in the tribal society as he was a leader who bridged two generations, it added.
The student body, in this hour of grief and sorrow, prays for the departed soul and shares the pain and sorrow of his beloved family, ATSUM stated.
It also prayed that may the Almighty God console the bereaved family and fill the void left by his demise.
