The third General Assembly of the All Tribal Students Union Manipur (ATSUM) was held on Monday at Amity Hall, Adimjati Complex, Imphal with the participation of representatives from its federating units and subordinate organisations from all the tribal hill districts of the state.
According to ATSUM Assembly Secretary, Matthew Ramangba, the assembly deliberated on the various issues confronting the tribal people of the state and adopted several resolutions over these issues.
The assembly also unanimously entrusted ATSUM to fervently pursue the matters with respect to its demand for holding early delimitation exercise in the state, opposition to ST status demand of some communities from the state and the violation of reservation rules in recruitment.
Reposing faith in the incumbent executive council led by its President Paotinthang Lupheng, the assembly extended the tenure for another 6 months to effectively address these issues.
