Manipur Sand Distribution Association said all the transporters under the umbrella of the association will stop transportation of Dimapur sand along the National Highway-2 (Imphal-Dimapur) with immediate effect.
In a release issued and signed by G Sitaljit Sharma of the association on Monday, the association mentioned that it took the decision after witnessing the month-long roadblock along NH-2 and for the safety of the transporters.
It stated that though Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured reopening of the highway, the road block is still continuing.
For the safeguard of the transporters, the association decided to stop transportation of Dimapur sand along the highway, it stated.
It further stated that any transporters failing to follow the decision of the association should bear their own consequences if unwanted incidents occurred along the highway.
