The Traders Association Tamenglong (TAT) on Monday demanded the authorities concerned not to inaugurate the incomplete Tamenglong FCI godown at old Tamenglong Iriangluang village. It said the construction of the FCI godown is yet to be completed.
The demand was raised during the inspection of the construction of FCI godown at old Tamenglong Iriangluang village. The inspection team found good progress in the construction.
However, it was found that the construction of drainage, retaining wall, main gate, wall fencing of its surroundings are yet to be completed. Moreover, it was found that the floors have developed cracks while the construction of the security barrack and toilet complex is yet to be completed.
The association further raised concern that the approach road towards the 5000 metric tons FCI godown would be the main issue. The approach road from the council junction towards the old Tamenglong is extremely narrow and requires expansion, the association observed.
Speaking to the media, Traders Association Tamenglong vice president Isaiah Goimei said that the FCI godown is likely to be inaugurated on December 17 or 18 during Chief Minister N Biren’s visit to attend the Orange festival in Tamenglong district headquarters.
He fervently appealed to the authorities concerned not to inaugurate the incomplete Tamenglong FCI godown construction at old Tamenglong Iriangluang village in the interest of the general public.
He further appealed to all the contractors concerned to complete their works at the earliest, and urged them to maintain quality. The public and the traders association will not come to a compromise at any cost concerning the issue, he added.
