Association condoles death of former MLA Sarat

Former MLA Konthoujam Sarat Singhbreathed his last on September 3 in Bangalore where he was undergoing treatment

The Manipur Ex-MLAs Welfare Association has expressed its deep and profound condolence on the sudden demise of Konthoujam Sarat Singh who was elected from Konthoujam AC, Imphal West twice on Trinamool Congress ticket.

He breathed his last on September 3 in Bangalore where he was undergoing treatment. He was 60 years and left behind his wife and a daughter, the association said in a release.

“His untimely demise has deeply shocked and saddened all his near and dear ones, especially the people of his constituency. He was a very kind hearted and sincere person both during his teaching days and in his political days. The Ex-MLA Association prays for his soul to rest in peace in the abode of the almighty god,” the association conveyed.

The release stated that Sarat was elected as a Member of Manipur Legislative Assembly for the first time in the year 2007 in the by-election of Konthoujam A/C due to the demise of Sapam Budhichandra Singh, Speaker of that time.

He was re-elected from the same constituency in 2012 in the same party from the same constituency, it added.
