The Kanglei Ima Lup (KIL) on Tuesday condemned the assault on three journalists and five personnel of Manipur Fire Services allegedly by security forces while on duty on Monday amid efforts to control the prevailing unrest in the state.
The KIL in a release urged the state government to look into the matter and take necessary actions against the security personnel involved in the reported assault.
The association also questioned the alleged silence of the political parties of the 10 Kuki MLAs over their demand for a “separate administration” and urged the parties as well as the state government to issue a concrete statement on resolving the tension instead of allegedly remaining a mute audience.
It maintained that restraining the Kuki Militants under SoO will be the only means to solve the communal unrest in the state. KIL further pointed out the simmering tension, especially in the peripheral regions and added that violence will continue to escalate as long as the armed Kuki militants are let loose and unrestrained.
