Assam Rifles pays tributes to bravehearts

A wreath-laying ceremony was held on Sunday to pay tributes to Havildar (Late) Satpal Singh and Rifleman (Late) Dharam Pal Singh who laid down their lives in the 2007 encounter in Kakching district.

Modi Battalion under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organised a wreath-laying ceremony on Sunday to pay tribute to Havildar (Late) Satpal Singh and Rifleman (Late) Dharam Pal Singh who laid down their lives during an encounter in Kakching district, Manipur, on October 9, 2007, (IGAR) South said on Sunday.

The Battalion gifted the next of kin of the martyrs with a momento in their memory, it stated in a release.

Meanwhile, on the occasion of the World Mental Health Day, Loktak Battalion Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organised a lecture on the Importance of Mental Health and to de-stigmatize mental health issues at Sendra village in Bishnupur district.

The lectures were organised to raise awareness on various types of mental ailments, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, OCD, etc, and the importance of de-stigmatizing them, it stated.

The lectures covered various mental health issues, particularly in the light of the COVID-19 scenario and the remedial measures to cure them. A total of 55 villagers, including women, participated in the event and applauded the efforts of Assam Rifles for conducting such a lecture, it added.
