The new Director General of Assam Rifles Lt General Vikas Lakhera would be visiting Imphal on Friday to take stock of the Manipur situation.

General Lakhera took charge as DGAR in August after General PC Nair retired from service.

Commissioned into the 4 SIKH LI of the Indian Army in 1990, Lakhera has extensive experience in the northeastern region. A postgraduate from Defence Service Staff College, Wellington, and an alumnus of the Royal College of Defence Studies, London, he has held various command and staff roles.
