Asian Conference of Dalit Sahitya held in Nepal

Awards were presented to the Dalit workers and eminent scholars of various Asian countries including India, Nepal, Thailand and Bhutan.

The 13th Asian Conference of Dalit Sahitya 2023 was held at Nepal Pragya Pratishthan, Kamladi, Kathmandu in Nepal on February 17, in which several distinguished national and international awards were presented.

A release issued by Dalit Sahitya Academy stated that the chief guest of the event former member of parliament of the National Assembly Nepal Rishi Babu Pariyar presented the awards to the Dalit workers and eminent scholars of various Asian countries including India, Nepal, Thailand and Bhutan. Awardees from the state include Global Corona Warrior Award Committee, India convenor Y Mahendrakumar Singh, retired associate professor Haobam Indrakumar Meetei and Keirao assembly constituency MLA Waikhom Gojen Meetei, it mentioned.

The event was attended by Unified Dalit Right, Nepal former president Laxman Baedwa, BDSA India national secretary Y Mahendra Kumar, Indo Nepal Friendship Organisation Kathmandu convenor Man Prasad Shrestha, it maintained.

It continued that as part of the event, Haobam Indrakumar talked on the topic ‘The saviour of Dalits and Present problems of Dalits in India, Nepal and abroad’. Y Mahendrakumar was conferred with the title ‘Champion of Asian Dalit Movement 2023’, it added.
