Artax A Shimray was felicitated on Sunday at Awontang hall, Ukhrul on conferment of "Honorary Doctorate of Divinity" by Henry Martyn Institute, International Centre for Research Interfaith Relations and Reconciliation, Hyderabad, India.
Artax Shimray is the incumbent proprietor of Khaithom Integrated Farm, Ukhrul. He is also the coordinator of REM Area Community Conservation Project since 2017, which engages in the community conservation of biodiversity and intervention for alternative livelihood at REM area along the Indo-Myanmar border in partnership with the Henry Martyn Institute, Hyderabad.
Artax has also served in various students' unions in different capacities. To his credit he was also one of the founding members of Northeast Students' Coordination Committee (NESCC) now renamed as North East Student Organisation (NESO).
The event was organised by Hunphun Katamnao Long (HKL, Hunphun Students' Union) and hosted by Shimva Saklong Awontang, Ukhrul.
Friends and well-wishers congratulated Artax on being conferred honorary doctorate of divinity by the Henry Martyn Institute and wish him success in his future endeavours.
As part of the occasion, Guru Reuben Mashangva, Padma Shree awardee and Shoyin Vasha enthralled the public with their special numbers.
The felicitation was attended by church leaders, friends, family members and well-wishers, among others.
The programme began with the opening prayer announced by Seth Ragui, associate pastor, Phungyo Baptist Church while Enoch Ningshen, pastor SDA church, Ukhrul pronounced the closing prayer.
