The proscribed Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) on Wednesday clarified that it does not know anyone called Yumkhaibam Bimol who has been arrested by a team of Imphal West District Commando on charges of being an ‘overground worker’ of the outfit.

As per reports, Yumkhaibam Bimol, 61, son of late Kulla from Lilong Arapti Maning Leikai was arrested by a team of Imphal West District Commando on Tuesday, KYKL stated in a release issued by its secretary publicity and research A Yaiphaba. These baseless claims are fabricated by Manipur Police, it stated. Let alone being an ‘Overground Worker’, KYKL does not even know who Yumkhaibam Bimol is, it added.

In a press conference held on the day he was arrested, Yumkhaibam Bimol’s daughter Yumkhaibam Tamphana claimed that he was arrested by Manipur Police Commando for giving a speech at the election meeting of intending candidate of Yaiskul Assembly Constituency Th Brinda, it stated. In this regard, KYKL would like to clarify to the public that the organisation does not believe in the electoral politics of India, it added.

KYKL is an organisation which has taken up an armed revolution against India and is fighting a war for self-determination, it further stated. KYKL has never taken part in India’s election and would never do so in the future. Therefore, KYKL has nothing to do with Th Brinda contesting the election from Yaiskul assembly constituency, it further stated. This was a part of the ongoing propaganda being carried out to defame the organisation by Manipur Police and the state government, it added.
