Judicial officer Aribam Guneshwar Sharma has been appointed as a judge of the Manipur High Court on Friday as per a notification of the Union Law and Justice Ministry.
The ministry notified elevation of judicial officer Aribam Guneshwar Sharma as judge of Manipur High Court after the Supreme Court collegium meeting held on January 10, 2023 and approved the proposal of appointing Aribam Guneshwar Sharma as judge.
"In exercise of power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Aribam Guneshwar Sharma to be a Judge of the Manipur High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office," stated the appointment notice.
Aribam Guneshwar Sharma was the District and Session Judge, Imphal West having jurisdiction over revenue districts of Imphal West, Tamenglong, Noney, Chandel and Tengnoupal and was also the senior most district judge in Manipur.
His experiences include working as Standing Counsel, Punjab State Industrial Development Corporation; AOR for the Municipal Corporations of Punjab; AOR for J Sagar & Associates for NDPL, BSES Yamuna & Rajdhani, Tata Telecom, PTC Co. Ltd.; Filed & appeared in many cases in Supreme Court as a private counsel.
As chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Imphal West (on assuming charge of District & Sessions Judge, Imphal West in May 2021), he introduced legal talk show programmes in local radio and TV channels such as Radio Loktak fm, Radio Nongin fm and ISCOM TV.
