Family members of Arambam Nanao, the goldsmith who succumbed to his injuries after allegedly facing torture in police custody, have urged authorities concerned not to grant bail to the main accused, SI of Manipur Police, Th Jitendra.
“We have been struggling for the last one and half months but we have been hanging on with the strong belief that Chief Minister N Biren Singh will surely take interest in delivering justice for my husband,” wife of Arambam Nanao, Arambam(o) Teresa told reporters.
Following a resolution to not take the deceased body of her husband until justice is delivered, the last rite is still yet to be conducted, the wife said during a press conference at the residence of the victim at Sagolband Kangabam Leikai in Imphal on Sunday.
Amid this situation, the counsel of the main accused approaching for bail warrant is very unfortunate, she said and called on the state government not to accept the said request.
A relative of (L) Arambam Nanao, Arambam (o) Lata said that they will not change their stand on not to take the lifeless body.
