The Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the death of Arambam Nanao has demanded the authorities concerned for a post mortem report within five days and justice for late Arambam Nanao by rewarding quantum of punishment to the main accused SI Jitendra.
During a press conference at Manipur Press Club on Wednesday, advisor of the JAC, L Mema Devi stated that Arambam Nanao died don May 2 after facing alleged torture by main accused, SI Th. Jitendro Singh of Manipur Police and that his lifeless body was deposited for autopsy on May 5.
Although Chief Minister Biren Singh had assured of giving the post mortem report at the earliest during the meeting with JAC, the authorities concerned have failed to do so even after 15 days, she said.

She further said that the bereaved family has been struggling unbearably due to their inability to perform the last rite. Underscoring the prevailing scenario of the family, the authorities concerned should hand over the post mortem within five days, she demanded.
Mema said that the state government has always claimed about improving the law-and-order situation in the state but that it has failed to provide a post mortem report of such heinous crime committed by a law enforcement officer, calling it unfortunate.
The authorities concerned should take the case seriously so as to prevent such instances, she added.
She also drew the attention of the state government to materialise all the understanding made between JAC and chief minister Biren Singh. The state government should provide ex-gratia to bereaved families without fail, she said.
