Adding to a vast array of her literary achievements, renowned female poet and author Arambam Memchoubi released her first ever novel 'Nongthrei Pareng' along with her playbook titled 'Tutenglon' on Sunday.
With the publications of the two books, Arambam Memchoubi has altogether published a total of 22 books which includes translations and edited volumes.
Speaking on the occasion held at the Manipur Press Club in Imphal, Memchoubi highlighted that her novel was amalgamation of all her creative experiences and artistic pursuits since the 90s.
"The novel is an attempt to shed a different light on the rebel or revolutionary movement in Manipur and how the perspective surrounding the same had shifted since May last year," she said.
According to the author, the novel explores the deep complexities and nuances associated with the movement and society as a whole.
Meanwhile, Memchoubi noted that the book was a tale of a just and truthful king and his administration rooted in these two principles.
As per the author, the book marries fiction and facts to create a compelling narrative.
Arambam Memchoubi is a prominent Manipur writer and one of the leading women writers in Manipur.
She is a recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award for her poetry book 'Idu Ningthou'. Her poems have been translated into English, German, Italian and other major Indian languages, and published in various anthologies.
Khumukcham Ajit's translated book 'Soraren's Youngest Daughter Leimashang and other folk tales' was also released during the function.
Vice president of Writers Forum Imphal Irungbam Basanta, retired associate professor of Modern College Ch Rita, PhD scholar Nando Ningomba, dean of School of Humanities, Manipur University Nahakpam Aruna among others were also present at the event.
