AR holds Major Bob Khathing Memorial Lecture in Delhi

The lecture which was attended by over a 100 officers and was live streamed to 172 outstations was named after Major Bob Khathing keeping the monumental role played by late Major for the people of North East region, a release stated.

The Assam Rifles on Friday organised the Major Bob Khathing Memorial Lecture 2022 in New Delhi, under the third edition of Assam Rifles- United Services Institution (USI) guest lecture, IGAR (South) said. 

This year's guest talk was based on the theme, ‘Leveraging North East Region for Enhancing Peace and Stability and Furthering India's Act East Policy’ which also formed part of the Indian government initiative in the Northeast region to make it a self-sustained global economic hub of India, it stated. 

The lecture which was attended by over a 100 officers and was live streamed to 172 outstations was named after Major Bob Khathing keeping the monumental role played by late Major for the people of North East region, it mentioned.

Lt Gen Rana Pratap Kalita highlighted the relevant aspects related to conflict resolution and leveraging economic potential as a key factor to ensure stability in the Northeast region, it further stated. 

He stressed the need for the furtherance of Act East policy and emphasised on relevance of 4 C's (Culture, Commerce, Connectivity and Capacity Building) as the important pillars of Act East Policy which are part of PM Modi's vision for the region 'Security and Growth for All (SAGAR)', the release maintained.

Lt Gen PC Nair earlier brought out the Geo-Strategic importance of the North East Region and simultaneously assured the audience of the everlasting commitment of AR towards the people of the North East Region during his introductory remarks, it added.

It also stated that the talks was very well received by the audiences which had eminent personalities from various policy making bodies and think tanks besides officers from the Indian Army, representatives of various CAPFs, representatives from the Narcotics Control Bureau and many such important stakeholders of the North East Region.

The release issued by the IGAR (South) also extended its greetings and best wishes to the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Christmas.

“IGAR (South) expresses hope that the festival will herald an era of progress and prosperity in the region and promote unity, integrity and peaceful coexistence of the communities in the state. May the divine teachings of Lord Jesus inspire us to contribute our very best for the welfare of humanity, society and nation,” it added.
