The Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) conducted a Mega Medical and Dental Aid Camp at Gelmol Village, Churachandpur district which was held between 10 am to 3 pm on Saturday.
The programme was a continuation of the AR’s efforts to enhance mutual trust, harmony and peaceful association with the local populace, ensure a healthy environment and also raise awareness on the medical requirements of underprivileged inhabitants of remote villages.
On the occasion, a total of 295 villagers/residents, including 74 males and 104 females and 73 children, including Internally Displaced Persons in the village and 44 dental patients benefited from the said camp.
The medical camp was organised by unit hospital of 36 AR led by Comdt ( CMO) Dr Lamminthang Singson, PMR specialist, Churachandpur District hospital Dr Alex Thanzalet Touthang, and assistant professor, Child Specialist Dr Kambiakdik Tombing who examined and provided necessary consultant and medications.
The camp is also joined by Commandant Chahat Tiwari, Officer Commanding 14 DUAR and his staff. The villagers were also briefed about the importance of timely medication to avoid prolonged treatment of diseases. Special focus was given on educating the villagers about hygiene, sanitisation, prompt diagnosis, prevailing lifestyle diseases and contagious diseases followed by the ways to prevent them.
Villagers were also ensured about the precautions to be taken and routine to be followed on a daily basis to ensure a healthy and disease free family and society. Regarding Dental hygiene and sanitation, Health counselling were given .Topics based on Dietary modification were also discussed with the patients.
