The Assam Rifles, in collaboration with a team of specialist doctors from the Indian Medical Council (IMC) and local district health authorities, organised three extensive medical and dental health camps, to provide much-needed medical care to the locals of Lilong, Patsoi, Tuibong and Mata regions.
The camps benefitted 3,540 people, especially the elderly, women, and children in remote and affected areas of Thoubal, Imphal West and Churachandpur districts, stated a release.
In Imphal valley, the camp witnessed immense participation, with over 2,200 beneficiaries supported by specialists in orthopedics, dermatology, gynecology, and general medicine from Nasik, Mumbai, and Pune, offering free consultations and medicines, it stated.
The camp was inaugurated by Lamsang assembly constituency MLA Sorokhaibam Rajan Singh and Lilong United Club, Manipur advisor Sazad Buiyamayum who acknowledged the vital relief brought to the community during these challenging times, it mentioned.
At Churachandpur, the initiative, held in partnership with the same team of doctors from Nasik, Mumbai, and Pune, provided specialized services as above. Local support was further bolstered by over 30 nursing staff from Bethesda College of Nursing and Tunnu School of Nursing, as well as volunteers from CSOs including the ITLF, Kuki Women’s Union, ZSF, and others, it stated.
It further stated that community involvement was instrumental, with local youth clubs and prominent citizens supporting the event and distributing sanitary supplies sponsored by SHOISHOB Foundation.
At the close of the camp in Churachandpur, MLA LM Khaute visited to express gratitude and presented appreciation certificates and memorabilia, it mentioned.
