Tamenglong Assam Rifles battalion assisted the locals in infrastructure development of the remote village of Tharon in Tamenglong district of Manipur.
The battalion has worked for two days at the village football ground, a significant centre for sports and recluse for the local youth as well as enthusiasts, upgrading it by clearance of debris.
The widened ground now will facilitate conduct of local football tournaments engaging the youth in constructive sports activity.
Assam Rifles also helped in construction of a drain beside the ground which will prevent flooding as well as further aid in containment of waterborne diseases in the area.
The locals and village authority extended their gratitude to Assam Rifles for providing thoughtful assistance despite the remoteness of the village.
