The All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) on Monday sought the public support for the full-fledged Media Resource Centre recently inaugurated by Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey during the Manipur Press Club’s 49th foundation day celebration on Saturday.
AMWJU, in a release, expressed belief the media resource centre will greatly facilitate not only the journalists of Manipur but those from other states as well in availing valuable resources, adding that the same in return will ensure in providing accurate and reliable information to the public.
It urged the government departments and the public for their support and cooperation in contributing documents relating to Manipur including Land Revenue, Forest, Census, political documents, border-related documents, government-related gazette notifications, court orders, maps, books etc., to AMWJU to enable the union in effectively running the centre.
It further appealed to contribute photographs or videos of past incidents and issues which occurred in Manipur to the centre, so as to facilitate in keeping records of the incidents and digitisation for preservation of the records. The same will assist the people and the upcoming generation in their research works, it stated.
AMWJU also promised to maintain confidentiality of the contributors and respect their wishes in return for their assistance, the release said. The Union further thanked European Manipuri Association (EMA) for gifting a computer set and printer to AMWJU during the foundation day and asserted that the same will be of great help to the media resource centre.
