AMUCO organises public meetings at various regions

All Manipur United Clubs’ Organisation (AMUCO) along with the respective local clubs and meira paibis on Tuesday organised public meetings under the banner ‘No Separate Administration in Manipur’ at various regions in the state.

A release issued by AMUCO secretary Laishram Krishnachandra Khuman stated that as part of its ongoing campaign of holding public meetings at various places in the state, AMUCO organised public meetings at various regions in the state including Salungpham Kang Yambem Mayai Leikai, Waithou Keithel, Babu Keithel, Thoubal Haokha, Thoubal Wangma Taba, Kangabok New Keithel and Samaram Lamkhai etc.

The event was attended by AMUCO former president Ito Tongbram, advisor Y Mani Khuman and president Ph Nando Luwang along with the respective local clubs and Meira Paibis, it said.

It mentioned that the agendas discussed in the meeting included speedy rehabilitation of the displaced victims, better security for the people, stop militarisation in Manipur, stop playing communal card, withdraw of SoO immediately, the government should acknowledge the people’s interest, Manipur government should bold up, flush out of terrorists from Manipur and no separate administration in Manipur etc.

It stated that bringing and maintaining peace and normalcy should be the sole purpose of the government. It urged the government to take a concrete step to restore peace and to check the shortcomings of the deployed security forces to mend the people’s doubts and distrust.

It continued that living together in unity should be the only way forward and appealed to all to unite and fight against the divisive external forces. The daily wage earners, regardless of all their communities, are the ones who are most affected by the present conflict, it maintained. AMUCO along with the people have been protesting against ‘India’s Divisive Policy’, it added.
