AMUCO interacts with Meiteis and Meitei Pangals in Assam

AMUCO presented Rs 20,000 to Laningthou Khoriphaba Haoraba Committee of Pipal Pukhri, and extended acknowledgement for enthusiasm of the Pipal Pukhri villagers for the ‘Umanglai Haraoba’ celebration.

All Manipur United Clubs’ Organisation (AMUCO) on Friday conducted an interaction programme with the elders and villagers of Lanka in Assam as part of the organisation’s interaction drive to Hojai and Lanka which began on August 9.

In a statement, AMUCO stated that the interaction programme was a part of its interaction drive to meet and interact with the Meiteis and Meitei Pangals (Manipuri Muslims) of Hojai and Lanka in Assam.

The AMUCO team were welcomed at the Multipurpose Community Hall at Lanka Pipul Pukhri by representatives of United Meitei Association Assam (UMAA), Lanka Division including the villagers from Kati Tongia, Khring Khring (Joysagar), Gosai Gao, Lachitnagar, Aampukhuri and Pipal Pukhri Part I and Part II, it added.

During the programme, the team presented traditional scarfs to the village elders and interacted with the elders and the villagers as well, it informed.

The team also presented Rs 20,000 to Laningthou Khoriphaba Haoraba Committee of Pipal Pukhri, and extended acknowledgement for enthusiasm of the Pipal Pukhri villagers for the ‘Umanglai Haraoba’ celebration, it continued.

It further stated that the Poirei Leima Nupi Lup, Hojai Lanka along with Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibee Apunba Manipur of Baluhander village organised a lunch with the AMUCO team and presented the team with Meitei Iyong Khudei which were handcrafted by the members of the organisation. Showing appreciation to the organisation for conserving the traditional cultures, the AMUCO team presented the Poirei Leima Nupi Lup with Rs 30,000, it also added.

Later, Number I Panchali villagers welcomed the AMUCO team and presented the team with a book entitled ‘Ima Panthoibee Eerat Thouram’, and the team presented the Panthoibee Eerat Lup, Lanka with Rs 10,000, it stated.

The interaction drive was conducted under the aegis of UMAA, Hojai district advisor Thongam Gunamani and vice president Irengbam Rajen, it mentioned.
