Amuba Murder Case: One accused arrested, another absconding

An accused in L Amuba Singh murder case was on Tuesday arrested by Thoubal Police in Imphal, said Thoubal district police.
 
The accused, who was identified as one Haobam Rajen Singh, 63, son of late H Bira Singh of Wangjing Wangkhei, Thoubal, was arrested from Jail road Old Lambulane, Imphal during the course of investigation by Thoubal police, SP of Thoubal, H Jogeshchandra told reporters.
 
L Amuba Singh was killed early morning of the second phase polling day on March 5 at Wangjing Wangkhei in Thoubal district. The 25-year-old boy was reportedly shot by Rajen and his son, H Rakesh, who is an IRB personnel. He succumbed to his injury at a private hospital in Imphal the same day.
 
The SP said another accused, Rakesh, who is a havildar of 3rd IRB, is still absconding. Rakesh has already been suspended from his service by the Commandant of 3rd IRB on March 8, he added.
 
The fire arm used in the killing is yet to be recovered, the SP said, adding investigation is under way to nab the other culprit involved in the case.
 
The house of the arrested accused was reportedly torched by irate mob on the night of March 9.
