The All Manipur Nupi Marup (AMNM) on Wednesday appealed to the state government to take up necessary action against the culprits behind the recent pre-poll violence that took place in the state, in order to maintain free and fair election.
The AMNM stated in a release that the negligence of the state government and the authorities concerned toward the pre-poll violence led to the deaths and injuries of innocent victims.
Recalling the murder of Ningthoujam Rohit, it stated that the police’s negligence and failure to take up necessary action against the miscreants encourages such unfortunate events.
AMNM alleged that the authorities’ negligence towards bringing justice to the death and violence is due to the authorities’ favouritism with the culprits involved.
Urging the electoral officer to provide extra protection for the areas of conflicts, it appealed to the state government to maintain a proper conduct of free and fair election in the upcoming 12th Manipur General Assembly Election 2022 to be held on February 27 and March 3.
