Former minister Kh Ratankumar on Monday said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah came to defame the Congress with false narratives.

He told the media at Manipur PCC office, BT Road, Imphal on Monday that Manipur is still burning, and the people have been demanding to suspend the election for some period until peace and normalcy are restored.

However, Manipur being a part of the democratic country India, the Lok Sabha election was scheduled amid the ongoing crisis in Manipur, he said.

So, the Congress party has to contest the election, he said. The BJP is taking advantage of the present scenario and this is evident by the Union Home Minister’s visit.

During his last visit to Manipur, Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured the people of Manipur that peace will be restored. However even after 11 months of his last visit, Amit Shah is repeating the same words” he said.

Meanwhile, two persons were killed in a fresh gunfight on Saturday morning in the border area of Kangpokpi and Imphal East district.

Manipur PCC, Working president Kh Debabrata condemned the allegation made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, stating that Congress is a ‘Tukde Tukde gang’. He claimed that BJP is notorious for blaming the Congress party for their failures.

In his speech Amit Shah claimed that ILP has been implemented after realizing the situation of Manipur due to the influx of illegal migrants. Debabrata said that the ILP implemented in Manipur is not functioning properly. A website has been created for the functioning of ILP; however, no records can be traced for any person who has entered Manipur through ILP due to the improper functioning of the ILP system, he said.

He added, the recalling of previous conflicts between Naga-Kuki, Meitei-Pangal, Kuki-Paite and others is just to get political mileage with an intention to blame Congress.

He further said a sum of Rs 30.96 crore was sanctioned in 2013 for the completion of border fencing work of 10 kilometre in which BJP is claiming that the BJP government has completed the pending border fencing work.

“The DPR of 1643 kilometre of Indo-Myanmar was already sent to the Central government by the then DG of Assam Rifles. But BJP is claiming that the border fencing is being initiated to control the illegal immigrants influx after considering the crisis in Manipur,” he said.

He said the youths and womenfolk of Manipur have already welcomed union home minister Amit Shah’s visit with protests and BJP should be ashamed of this.
