Kshetrigao Assembly Constituency MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan on Saturday conveyed Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s assurance to keep Manipur’s territorial integrity intact and provide no provisions for any Separate Administration in Manipur.
“The NPP delegation met the home minister on August 4, during which the home minister also assured to ramp up ongoing works on the identification of illegal immigrants and implement NRC in Manipur,” he said.
He was speaking to the media on the sidelines of a sit-in staged at Top Khongnangkhong, demanding to safeguard Manipur’s territorial integrity and restoration of peace in the state. The MLA came out from his residence during the sit-in to address the protesters on the recent developments which had taken place regarding the crisis.
Noorul further stated that the home minister had promised to closely monitor and work according to the impulse of the people in the state.
The state MLAs will also pressure the Centre on the people’s demands, he added.
He maintained that the 50 remaining MLAs including the Naga, Meitei Pangal and Meitei MLAs were all striving collectively to resolve the Manipur issue and exuded confidence that resolutions reflective of the people’s sentiments would be taken during the upcoming assembly sitting.
Therefore, he appealed to the people of Manipur to remain steadfast and maintain peace in the state till concrete decisions were taken. He also urged the people not to fall for false propaganda and disrupt daily activities in the state.
