AMCO to fight against drug menace in Manipur

The AMCO stated that churches and Christians of the state in general, under the aegis of AMCO have collectively resolved to fight against the drug menace and poppy cultivation in the state.

The All Manipur Christian Organisation (AMCO) on Friday declared to fight against drug menace and poppy cultivation in the state and extended support to the government to eradicate drugs from the state.

The AMCO stated in a release that churches and Christians of the state in general, under the aegis of AMCO have collectively resolved to fight against the drug menace and poppy cultivation in the state.

It stated that the declaration of the War on Drugs and ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ are remarkable landmarks. It extended acknowledgement to the state government, NGOs, CSOs, agencies, churches, village chiefs, individuals and other frontal organisations both at the local and state levels for the efforts in eradicating drug abuse from the state.

The church under the aegis of AMCO made a collective pledge based on ‘Christian faith, Biblical ethics and values to extend unstinted support to the state government, organisations, churches and individuals who relentlessly work for the eradication of abuse of Psychotropic substances and poppy cultivation in the state, it maintained.

It assured that the church with all its resources and capabilities and with all stakeholders will persistently work at the grassroots level without any prejudice, for the eradication of abuse of Psychotropic substances and poppy cultivation in the state and discourage receiving revenue from such.

It stated that AMCO appeals to all those individuals involved in the nefarious activity to refrain from further indulgence to save the lives of thousands of people and the degrading ecosystem as well. It also appealed to the union and state government to formulate a comprehensive socio-economic policy) on par with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) based on rationality, sustainability, inclusivity, etc. for a progressive, harmonious and drug-free society.
