Apex body of Thang-ta and Chebi Haiba associations, comprising over 80 associations across Manipur, have strongly condemned the allegation made by a member of Huiyen Lalong Thang-Ta Association Manipur, Huidrom Dinachandra and termed it baseless.
Founder president of Apunba Manipur Huiyen Lalong, Okram Manglem Meitei, on Saturday told media at the campus of Huiyen Lalong Thang-Ta Cultural Association located at Irilbung, Imphal West, that Thang-Ta coach Kakchingtabam Sanathoiba Sharma was awarded a Padma Shri by the government of India.
He said the award was given to him after witnessing the contributions that he made in the art form with dedication.
Hitting back at Dinachandra, Manglem questioned on what basis the allegation was made and that Kakchingtabam Sanathoi Sharma was not competent for the award. The allegation made by Dinachandra will be a challenge to the entire art form of Thang-Ta, he added.
He further said the apex body will decide what necessary action is to be taken against Dinachandra for misleading the contribution of Sanathoiba.
