All India Imams Council national president Moulana Ahmed Nadwi on Saturday condemned the BJP government for “wrongly” using the government agencies against the Popular Front of India (PFI).
A release issued by the All India Imams Council, Manipur State public relation officer Mufti Arshad accused the BJP government of wrongly using its agencies, including National Investigation Agency (NIA), Enforcement Directorate (ED) against PFI “instead of taking up necessary actions against an unregistered organisation such as the RSS and its affiliations,” it added.
Arshad condemned the arrests of PFI leaders and accused the BJP government and its agencies of harassing the PFI members without any evidence.
It demanded the unconditional release of the arrested PFI leaders and members. It also appealed to the government to publicly release the evidence if the authorities find any evidence of PFI conducting illegal activities.
Moulana Ahmed Nadwi also appealed for the immediate intervention of the Supreme Court, political leaders, social activists and religious scholars on the issue, it added.
