AITUC-MSC observes 16th state conference in Imphal

On May Day, AITUC-MSC stated that the the 132nd May Day and AITUC-MSC 16th state conference at THAO Ground, Imphal, began with the attendees observing a one-minute silence as homage to the departed former members of the council.

All India Trade Union Congress, Manipur State Council (AITUC-MSC) on Sunday organised the 132nd May Day and AITUC-MSC 16th state conference at THAO Ground, Imphal, and paid respects to departed members of AITUC-MSC and the labourer community.

In a release, AITUC-MSC stated that the event commenced with the attendees observing a one-minute silence as homage to the departed former members of the council.

Speaking on the occasion, AITUC-MSC president M Nara extended greetings on the occasion of May Day in honour of the labourer and worker community, and talked on the observation of the council’s 16th state conference, it added.

It stated that the giant corporate houses in the country are corrupting the economy in favour of their own profits. He encouraged the public to stand against the ruling government which is biased towards the giant corporate houses, it continued.

It recalled that the council had been organising movements on anti farm laws and labour laws codification. It stated that the council have been demanding for the wage increase for the labourers and for the scheme workers to be recognised as proper labourers under the social security act.

In the conference, a general council consisting of 105 members was formed, followed by the announcement for the selection of representatives to be held by the end of May.

The event was attended by AITUC-MSC president M Nara; general secretary L Sotinkumar; vice presidents S Manglem and S Nilakamal; CPI Manipur secretariat member A Lala; All Manipur Nupi Marup president M Sakhi Devi; and representatives of various unions and associations from different districts.
