All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Manipur State Committee on Friday extended support for the two-day general strike on March 28 and 29 declared by the Central Trade Union Organisation, Independent Federation, Association and Samyukta Kishan Morcha.
A release stated that AITUC, Manipur State Committee and its affiliated unions support the two-day nationwide general strike against the labour laws and policy which gives power to the wealthy corporates who are ‘oppressing’ the farmers and labourers of the nation.
Accusing the ruling government for denying the long demanded demands of the labourers and farmers, it condemned the government for allegedly devising the four contentious labour laws which would oppress the rights of the labourers.
Further alleging that the government had been trying to privatise all public sectors for the benefit of the wealthy corporates, AITUC state unit added that many educated and qualified youths had been affected by unemployment under the rule of the ruling government.
It urged the different unions, organisations, scheme workers, labourers, wage earners, shop and establishment workers etc, and the public to extend support and cease service during the two-day nation-wide general strike.
