MAHUD Minister Y Khemchand on Thursday called on the public to abide by the Building Bye-Laws and Master Plan while constructing any buildings and structures in the urban areas by obtaining permission from the concerned urban local bodies.
Abiding the Building Bye-Laws and Master Plan will lead to systematic management of the town such as maintenance of proper drainage system besides being resistant from disaster like earthquakes, he added.
The minister was delivering the chief guest speech during the launching of 'Online Building Permit System (OBPS)' of the Town Planning department at the City Convention Centre in Imphal East.
As the tentative period for obtaining the building permission online is 30 days, the public will no longer face any delay in obtaining such permission, Khemchand said, adding that the process will also be fully transparent.
To encourage the use of the OBPS, the minister also announced a cash reward of Rs 10,000 each to the first five registered architects or firms who submit the building application by October 15.
Delivering the keynote address, chief town planner, N Bejnu, informed that the OBPS was introduced with the motive to ease doing business and help citizens obtain Construction Permit in hassle free manner in a single window clearance.
He elaborated that all agencies involved in the process are integrated in a single electronic platform with proper online coordination.
It mainly focussed on the removal of the need for the citizen to visit the department and apply online and would be able to get the construction permission certificate anywhere and anytime, he said.
The system is transparent and an effective tool in monitoring and improving the delivery of services, he added.
The function was also attended by additional commissioner of IMC K Chandrakumar; SIO of NIC Manipur N Binod as guest of honour while commissioner of MAHUD M Joy presided the function.
