Abducted transporters released

Transporters who were abducted from Irang Bridge, Old Cachar road, were released around 11 pm Monday.

Two highway road transporters, who were abducted on Friday by miscreants suspected to be ZUF-J cadres along Old Cachar road at Irang Bridge, were released on Monday.

The transporters, namely one Bilal Ahamak, 49, son of late Arabati of Kalinger, Cachar, Assam who is the driver of the goods truck bearing registration number AS01GC-7954 and assistant driver Tayal Udden, 23, son of Sonahaur Ali of Jalapur Tarapur, Cachar, Assam, were released around 11 pm.  

Police reported that they were transporting beetle nuts and abducted from Irang Bridge, Old Cachar road located around 8 kilometre North West from Khoupum police station in Noney district.

A case was registered at Khoupum police station in connection with the incident on Friday. Police stated that they were abducted for ransom.
