The Manipur Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) questioned why Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not issued any statement on the present law and order crisis in Manipur.

Activity coordinator, AAP, Manipur unit, Bangkimchandra Sagolshem told media at its state party head office located at Moirangkhom, Imphal on Tuesday that the communal violence in Manipur have claimed several lives and left many other hundreds injured.

However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not issued any comment in connection with the issue, instead he is giving priority to the Karnataka state assembly election, he added.

Coordinator of the party, Th Bishwanath said that following the ongoing communal clashes across several districts in the state, many properties have been damaged and many are suffering.

He asked why the government delayed evacuation of stranded people who are staying at various relief camps. The decision was resolved during the ‘All Political Party meeting’ held recently at the CM Secretariat, Imphal, he said.

He said as an impact from the communal clashes, people of Manipur are suffering and prices of essentials are hiked, which is adding to the sufferings of the people.

He appealed to the authority concerned to allow internet services, especially for money transaction, as many people are suffering due to shortage of currency notes in ATMs.

The party appreciated CSOs, local club organisations, and others for providing necessary assistance to the stranded people who are staying at relief camps across the state.
