The 76th Naga Independence day was widely celebrated in Tamenglong district at various locations by offering prayers and unfurling of the Naga flag on Sunday.
‘Zeilad region under the government of the people's republic of Nagalim’ on Sunday organised the celebration at Chiuluan village.
Former forest and environment kilonser Salemyang Gangmei attended the event as chief guest and hoisted the Naga flag.
In his speech, he thanked all the civil organisations leaders, youths, student leaders, churches leaders, prayers warriors, etc. for standing firm with the NSCN (I-M).

He said that every Naga soul should protect the beautiful, sky blue coloured Naga flag which also has a star and rainbow. He informed that the Naga movement is going ahead with the right decision and destination with the Naga sovereignty. “We are at the crossroads, we cannot go by someone’s imposition, we will decide our own future,” he said.
The Naga solution is lying in the court of India, and the people’s movement is required now to stand with the NSCN (I-M), he added.
A silent prayer of two minutes was also observed in respect and remembrance of the departed Naga souls who laid down their lives for the cause of the Naga nation.
Zeilad region secretary read out the message of ato kilonser Th Muivah on the occasion.
The celebration was also held at the birthplace of Haipou Jadonang at Kambiron Puiluan village in Nungba Sub-division with deputy kilonser Piukenthuan Panmei as chief guest.

Leaders of Nungba areas attended the programme and a Jadonang parade was performed as part of the programme.
The Naga Independence Day was also celebrated at Rangkhung village under Noney district. Former Rongmei Naga Council Manipur president Th Pamei attended as chief guest and hoisted the Naga flag on the occasion.
